Assessments
- Formal and informal handwriting assessments of capitals, lower-case letters and numbers. Pencil grip, posture, paper placement, and appropriate use of the "helper hand" are also observed.
- All assessments and tutoring can be conducted on children as young as 3 and through teenage years.
- Appointments during day, in school or afterschool, in the convenience of your home or school, upon permission.
- Individualized, one-on-one handwriting coaching sessions can follow either assessment.
Formal Assessment (60 minutes) Include:
- Uses The Print Tool assessment which indicates exactly where the child is struggling with handwriting on 8 specific areas-memory, orientation, placement, size, start, sequence, control, and spacing
- Fine-motor skills will be assessed to determine what issues may be impacting your child’s handwriting
- Student writing sample review (sample provided by parent)
- Student assessment and parent interview (30 minutes)
- Parent consultation following completion of formal written report (30 minutes)
- Individualized remediation plan and copy of report provided
- Assessment will determine the appropriate amount of coaching needed on a weekly basis
- Student evaluation session and parent interview (30 minutes)
- Student assessment will consist of observation of handwriting sample and fine motor skills (given time allotted after handwriting sample)
- Student writing sample review (sample provided by parent)
- Parent consultation following evaluation (15 minutes) with suggestions provided for individualized remediation plan
- Assessment will determine the appropriate amount of coaching needed on a weekly basis
Informal Assessment (45 minutes) Include:
